The QGRC advises that track maintenance works will be carried out on the Q2 tomorrow, Tuesday 3 June, ahead of the G1 Flying Amy Final on Saturday 7 June.
Inconsistencies in the track surface, which were identified on Saturday 31 May, prompted an investigation by the Club and Racing Queensland’s track experts, with profiles and testing undertaken earlier today.
These works will provide a more consistent moisture balance across the track surface.
A 120mm harrow will be completed on Tuesday 3 June.
Trials on the Q2 will proceed on Wednesday 4 June – please note that the surface will produce slower times than normal.
Regular track work will continue on Thursday and Friday, with the Q2 not scheduled for races or trials.
While it is unusual to have such work completed between heats and a final, these works are necessary to rectify the track issues identified on Saturday 31 May and ensure that the surface is in optimal condition for the remainder of the Winter Carnival.
